NEMIS abandonment by MoE
This is a full page report, but it still fails to highlight what the problem could have been, and the possible solution. It even fails to lay the blame anywhere! We're that shallow. Assuming that all headteachers have access to a computer with Internet access, what then is the reason some of them have not uploaded the data? I'm assuming that it's a simple case of putting the data in an Excel spreadsheet with a defined format, which is then uploaded into NEMIS. Someone needs to answer the question of why the system is being abandoned. Unless this news update is simple sensationalism.

Agreed, NEMIS is working. May 2019 report @ https://www.nation.co.ke/news/Teachers-reject-Nemis--cite-identity-code-erro... Teachers reject Nemis, cite identity code error By OUMA WANZALA, TUESDAY MAY 21 2019 But the problem, it appears, could be beyond the administrators of Nemis as it is created by the uploading of birth certificates that share numbers, meaning it could be at the Immigration department, under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government. The Nemis system automatically flags cases of identity duplication and blocks the disbursement of money to the affected schools. Principals argue this is unfair to legitimate students and now want the ministry to carry out a physical count of students to weed out any suspected ghost learners. October 2019 report @ https://www.nation.co.ke/news/Matiangi-raids-births-register-office/1056-532... Matiang’i raids births register office in crackdown on cartels By AGEWA MAGUT, FRIDAY OCTOBER 25 2019 Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i on Friday sent packing two senior officers at the Department of Civil Registration in an impromptu raid meant to crack down on corruption cartels in the issuance of birth certificates. Dr Matiang’i also ordered the immediate arrest of brokers behind the multi-million shilling corruption industry at Bishop’s House, where the department is based. He assured Kenyans that the process of getting a birth certificate in Kenya will be corruption-free and much smoother by next week. CAUGHT UNAWARES Dr Matiang’i’s visit caught the department’s bosses unawares and he found long queues, unmanned and unmarked counters as well as computers in disuse. The situation prompted him to direct all personnel in charge to work over the weekend to ensure smoother processes by Monday. “People should be coming in and immediately they should have someone verify that all their documents are in order," CS Matiang’i said during the inspection. "After that, they should hand in their documents, get a ticket and go home. After about a week, they should get a SMS telling them that their certificate is ready to be collected." @S. Murigi Muraya <murigi.muraya@gmail.com> the WB sould handover a "working system" to MoE after the period. Not a dysfunctional system. That is what I'd expect. Now this is a system that has NOT delivered anything! What is the justification for it? I think you are misinformed, no? On Mon, 16 Dec 2019 at 23:24, S.M. Muraya <murigi.muraya@gmail.com> wrote:
