Re: [kictanet] Most visited websites in Kenya
The problem with Kenyan content is the quality of the material. Case in point, in the link shared earlier the top three local blogs are gossip sites which IMO post garbage. If the content is good then for sure the consumers will come. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [kictanet] Most visited websites in Kenya Time (UTC): September 24 2015 9:21 am From: kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke To: marcus.cicero@protonmail.ch CC: jw@hapakenya.com,kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke It's complicated. I think the biggest problem we have here is that people prefer International content and sites to Kenyan sites in general. You'll find that if I write a story about A, he'll never even bother to share it but if an International site does it, it's a real honour to them and they'll share the hell out of it. Also, even just news consumption. It's always better if it's foreign. A lot of traffic also goes to social networks and porn sites which we really don't have here.

Marcus, one mans food, is another poison. Those two local content sites are popular because gossip is big worldwide. And that is relevant local content. So no need to trash them. At least we are not reading Sunday Sun gossip from UK which is not relevant to us. ______________________ Mwendwa Kivuva, Nairobi, Kenya "There are some men who lift the age they inhabit, till all men walk on higher ground in that lifetime." - Maxwell Anderson
The visits could also be seasonal. When universities are either releasing results or enrolling, as an example, you must notice an increase in the hits. Capt (rtd) J. R.
