Kiswahili rocks in GameVille
Hi Listers, Over the Easter weekend I had the opportunity to watch my sons playing a number of video games and also got in some movie viewing. In the game x-men origins wolverine there is an entire level where the attackers are speaking in Kiswahili and the statements where accurate and related to the actions, I also watched a preview for a new movie "1 am number 4" and there was a number of times where Kenya was mentioned. I believe this is an area we can capitalise on, ball to you PS Ndemo and Kukubo. I also can't wait for the Animation park that the PS has been championing to open. Nigeria might have run away with film, but we have an opportunity to become Africa's powerhouse of animation and CGI, like the Japanese are known for their Manga. We might even be the saviour of Uganda's Ramon Production's CGI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BymeLkZ7GqM
Hi Dennis (and all), We are planning to provide the region's emerging animation industry a major boost at the third annual AITEC Broadcast & Film Africa Conference in Nairobi over 6-7 July, by including a stream in the conference on developing the industry (training, skills development, business models, marketing). In addition, we are going to have an Animation Pavilion in the expo to provide space for young animators to demo their productions and network with potential partners, customers and investors. The Call for Papers for the conference is attached. Regards, Sean PS - I have to say, I think the content of the Youtube clip is terrible, and represents much of what we should be rejecting in the region (and the world), especially as it seems aimed at a young audience - youths wielding automatic rifles, violence against women, general violence and mayhem. But maybe I'm old-fashioned J Sean Moroney Chairman AITEC Africa seanm@aitecafrica.com UK Tel: +44(0)1480-880774 UK Fax: +44(0)1480-880765 UK Mobile: +44(0)7973-499224 Skype: seanmoroney www.aitecafrica.com From: kictanet-bounces+seanm=aitecafrica.com@lists.kictanet.or.ke [mailto:kictanet-bounces+seanm=aitecafrica.com@lists.kictanet.or.ke] On Behalf Of Dennis Kioko Sent: 28 April 2011 06:59 To: seanm@aitecafrica.com Cc: KICTAnet ICT Policy Discussions Subject: Re: [kictanet] Kiswahili rocks in GameVille I also can't wait for the Animation park that the PS has been championing to open.
