Mucheru says draft law on blogger video uploads to be amended - Politics and policy

Listers Interesting article. My sense on what's going on in the country is this:- The new constitution is being tested in ways that we should be prepared for. And for every detractor who wants to take us back to the bad old days there are 10 who will fight for it. I commend CS Mucheru for throwing his hat on the good side of history. http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/Mucheru-says-draft-law-on-blogger-video-u... Thank you for sharing this. I definitely was panicking especially after watching some TV interviews but it's good to hear a voice of reason speaking about the proposed film bill. And the "studio mashinani" project is such a welcomed initiative! Regards, Mildred. It is interesting to note that the draft 'bill' has a requirement to obtain a licence before any 'filming' takes place! - by the submission of scripts for approval!!! In my experience, professional productions have many script changes, including actor's 'ad-libs' - which are all part of the creative process. Only the final edit is the version which should be subject to classification. Many 'amateur' productions are entirely un-scripted - as are media reporting (which category most video bloggers - 'vloggers' - also fall into). These draconian measures to attempt to control the media just won't work. Let's hope that CS Mucheru, and others, will be voices of sanity in this legislation!
