The US electoral system deserves its own thread, with people who are experts, but the description below re delegates is incorrect and moreover, this has nothing to do with tech companies. In addition, Secretary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination with or without the superdelegates-she won the popular vote as well.
For context re super delegates in US Democratic primary, see here-http://theweek.com/articles/615261/superdelegates-explained
For Secretary Clinton's lead over Senator Sanders and how it happened, see here-essentially, she won every demographic except for white, rural voters, which tells you a great deal about America's version of "tribal" conflict-race.
It's absolutely certain that money and power have a distorting impact on politics and governance, but incorrect information detracts from useful debate, and the implication that tech companies are fraudulently manipulating elections has no basis in fact.

Google isn't tampering with Hillary's results, and here is the evidence http://www.snopes.com/google-manipulate-hillary-clinton/

I think its a broad issue that is engrained in the power structure corporates have in the political landscape in the US. If we been following the recent campaign trail (Hillary vs. Sanders) you would notice that Delegates and Super Delegates get to gravitate to Hillary in the primaries - which is the power establishment tends to support Hillary. Word is that the power establishment is strongly tied to corporate interests. The funding sources for political campaigns for these 2 candidates is something worth noting with what you have already raised, Ali. (with Hillary primarily being funded by corporations and Sanders from organizations such as human rights movements). We all understand how powerful tech corporations in the US are not only in the US but also in the global landscape.Even Trump himself has boasted about the fact that he does not get sponsored by the elitist establishments (the corporations in the US), if Sanders is not being primarily funded by these corporate entities who else is Trump really talking about?

First there there was the hullabaloo about Facebook 'doctoring' its trending feeds and now there is the thingi about Google allegedly tweaking its algorithms to favor Hillary Clinton. If you are like me and have watched Season 4 of House of Cards you can start to begin appreciating how technology companies have come to loom large in political contests.
As we in Kenya enter electioneering period (no matter that the elections are over a year away!) this issue will come to the fore too in our local politics.
