This has been available for some time but apparently is a pretty terrible implementation with long delays, bad fee structure, etc...

The money has to go through South Africa because of anti-terrorism laws in place against Kenyan banks apparently (other people on this list and Skunkworks have detailed the issues before).

Hi Listers,

I received the following message last week from Paypal

We have some great news for you! You can now withdraw your money from your PayPal balance to your Kenyan Equity Bank account.

To help you withdraw funds from your PayPal account to your Kenyan bank account, we have partnered with Equity Bank and created Equity Bank’s PayPal withdraw service. This requires you to hold a bank account with Equity Bank.

Regards
