WhatsApp has probably been sharing data with Facebook for a while now if I'm not mistaken. I had two acquaintances on WhatsApp, not friends on Facebook & having no relations whatsoever with my Facebook friends. They appeared as suggested friends on Facebook. Unless Facebook got those details from my phonebook the only other plausible place they got the details from my WhatsApp.
