This Citizen Data track at the Summit will certainly be interesting to feed into the Internet governance conversations.

Particularly:
i. The fact that businesses have now become the avenue "tools" for Governments across the world to collect information from and on citizens - where you travel to, what you spend on, who is your network. And more so the business innovations and disruptions are a great appendage to the Government systems - "Mkono mrefu zaidi wa serikali" 
ii. In line with consumer and human rights;Should business pay for this business intelligence which ultimately enables them craft and refine their business model, whether the client accepts or not eg pay or rebate the customers or in being innovative, fund a national innovation kitty.

Overall,the deliberations need to look into the deep future not just what we are seeing now. Happy deliberations.

Businesses in a bid to understand their customer's preferences and habits, and thereafter design and offer tailor-made services have ended up collecting and holding enormous amounts of data. Panelists will examine whether businesses now hold too much data on citizens even more than Government and the security implications. Does the citizen have a say on where, how and when this data can be shared with third parties? What rights are left and what is needed in terms of policy, regulatory and legislation framework. Panelists will propose remedies and best practice from other jurisdictions.

We now have mobile network operators offering financial services similar to banks. Is a convergence eminent? any risks and opportunities for businesses to consider. Any new roles for the regulators- do they need to innovate and change themselves. These are indeed some of the questions that the Summit will reflect on and may call for policy and regulatory intervention without compromising innovation and creativity.

This year's Connected Summit 2017 will ultimately offer a platform for citizens, businesses and Government -both county and national on one hand, academics, opinion leaders and IT experts on the other to engage in visioning on the future together.
