Someone has done a study on Fake News in Kenya during this electioneering period. I think this is a more realistic representation of Fake News consumption in Kenya. Would like to see if the trend holds until next month. https://medium.com/@OdipoDev/3-things-we-discovered-from-3-months-of-investi... What offence would they be prosecuted for?
@Erick,
We are notoriuosly known for being reactionary rather than pro-active. At the same time, as fashions go, the FAKE news conundrum will catch up with us (if it hasn't already). I wonder whether we are not missing out on an opportunity to step in front of a problem. See EU's approach to Fake News http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/headlines/eu-affairs/ 20170331STO69330/fake-news-how-to-counter-misinformation
Thank you all for contributing and apologies for reviving an old conversation.

If you would want the originators and/or distributors of the fake news on facebook prosecuted, you may want to report the same and have the police gather the necessary evidence before reporting the post to facebook for pull down.
Once the post is pulled down, collecting evidence becomes a long and tedious process under the Mutual Legal Assistance mechanisms between States and without evidence there can be no prosecution.

@Emmanuel Chebukati <echebukati@gmail.com>, we had a community engagement with Facebook yesterday where concerns such as yours were raised. FB shared their reporting mechanisms where you can send such posts and request for their bringing down. You must however provide a reason which may sometimes not be be provided for by fb as was expressed yesterday.
The two links you have shared are definitely disturbing and you may want to raise this with Ebele or Fadzai.
We are now in a fake news season and so are some fb accounts.
