I was among the many listers who attended thanks to @Bitange Ndemo <bndemo@bitangendemo.me> . President Kibaki looked around and addressed the many doubting Thomases saying that when he envisioned the free primary school program many doubted that it would come to pass. He said the same would apply to Konza, he seemed to really beleive in the Technopolis as an idea whose time had come. I hope the Kenya News Agency or Ministry of ICT kept his remarks for posterity. As we mourn and celebrate the 3rd President of Kenya, Emilio Mwai Kibaki, let us remember his transformative agenda for the ICT industry in Kenya, especially in giving professionals free reign and putting Kenya on the world ICT map. President Kibaki was instrumental in the success of M-PESA, Open Data initiative, undersea Internet cables, the Konza Technopolis Silicon Savanna, and attracting foreign investments.
