Yes this an official service is provided by the ORPP and is even linked form their website at http://orpp.or.ke/ In 2013 this service was provided using the ORPP SMS shortcode but looks like that is no longer active. My main fear is what Mwendwa has shared, I bet our details have all been harvested multiple times by now! If you are fraudulently registered you can send a complaint to info@orpp.or.ke as per this tweet <https://twitter.com/ORPPKenya/status/837964053054177280> For people not on email, you have to write a letter and then get your ORPP county contact to collect it as per this tweet <https://twitter.com/ORPPKenya/status/837964053054177280> D On 6 March 2017 at 11:32, Mwendwa Kivuva via kictanet < kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:
What is more worrying is the amount of raw data that platform spews to the public.
Just search a random 8 character ID number, and you get Full names, ID numbers, date of birth etc. You can actually do a query from 00000000 to 44444444 and harvest all names, ID numbers, and Dates of birth, and gender of all Kenyans who belong to political parties.

These are questions the registrar of political parties should be answering.
Don't forget parties are business opportunities. You do not want to be one of their illegal assets "members" fraudulently or unknowingly.

@Dorcas, what is the offence to be investigated?
1. Assuming Fraudulent listing, is it the ORPP to blame or the political parties? 2. Assuming Political parties, then the question is, do they give ORPP
register of their members in a soft copy, based on a template (or API) which is then imported into the ORPP system? 3. If (2) is true, then does the system at ORPP have a mechanism for data verification for integrity purposes? 4. What if it doesn't have? Is ORPP to blame? Is there a law that says a Kenyan can only be a member of one (1) political party? 5. What happens when a political party merges with another (like TNA+URP+etc)? How is the data from the dissolved parties then handled?
The 1 million dollar question though is: Who has suddenly come up with this facility to check ones status?
This is symptomatic of the mess we have with the IEBC voters register.
Whereas the register is supposed to be public, it's being treated as some security document - to hide all the mess within.

Both cases can be investigated.

Thanks, Dorcas.
What does the successful result from querying dubious ID/Passport
number
like 001 portend in regards to the integrity of this data?
Tony.

Hi listers,
Please use this link to see if you are unknowingly and fraudulently registered as a member of a political party.

I just found out I was enlisted to the Amani Congress Party. Something ought to be done to punish such political parties.
