Muraya You are preaching to the converted. What we need however is to continuously look at improving ourselves and benchmark at a global level NOT compare ourselves to our neighbours. Having said that I know for certain that great strides have been made. We just need to keep,up the momentum. @ali About service delivery...
(i) We have the automation skills in Kenya.
We are just too focused on ERP (financials/collections for our own needs).
Less focused on customer/CRM infrastructure service automation.
(ii) We need a working judiciary and law enforcement.
To deal with fraud and other anti competitive practices.
After 5+ years in Kenya why would any multinational building up local firms need to recommend foreign firms?
What IP does Kenya gain when multinational firms (for decades) recommend foreign led firms for local projects?

I support you on this. It's not only about the capacity and memory, bandwidth etc. It's also about service delivery. We are far from there yet. Although I must say that a few new entrants are working hard towards serving the industry from a world class perspective. Of mention here is:-
1. Angani 2. kili.io
Work in progress but I applaud them for taking the leap.

We are talking applications not websites. And data centres are not about processors, far from it.
Tell me more about the KDN and Safaricom data centre high availability. Real stuff i mean. I am happy to do a site visit.

There are very few local websites that would need scalability past Duo CPU / Multi-core setups with good memory so i guess scalability is easily sorted or is a non-issue.
In terms of redundancy, two local sites would pull the trick very well IMO. Say KDN Data Center with Sfaricom Data Center as a hot backup.

I would be keen to learn on any high-availability data centres that can scale locally. Yes, i challenge you give me a site visit!
Although i would prefer the services hosted in a local data centre, i am doubtful that we have any that would scale well.
