As of October 4, 2023, Safaricom has suspended its roaming services in the United States. This decision was made due to "unforeseen circumstances" and affects both PrePay and PostPay customers. Safaricom is working on restoring roaming services in the USA as soon as possible, but they have not yet provided a timeline for when this will happen.
In the meantime, Safaricom customers traveling to the USA will need to purchase local SIM cards to stay connected. They can also use Wi-Fi calling and messaging apps like WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family.
Safaricom apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this disruption of service. They are committed to providing their customers with the best possible roaming experience and will continue to work on restoring services in the USA as soon as possible.
Could it also be the type of Network Coverage in those areas? On Tue, Nov 7, 2023 at 8:40 PM Alex Watila via KICTANet <kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:i thought they use cdma and not gsm---
