In addition to the disclaimer about "shared links/connections", they will tell you that the advertised speed is only between you and them, not onwards to the Internet. Personally, I would not mind this, as long as they were willing to host the entire Internet on their local servers :)

Most of us face the same issue. I don't believe Zuku is the only culprit. The entire industry seems to have 'conspired' around this. However if you read the fine print on the contract you will no doubt see the disclaimer about 'shared links'. I call it the 'Tyranny of Shared Connectivity'.

This issue goes beyond consumer interest and touches on the whole regime of Internet Governance and the discussions around guarantees on Service Delivery and Quality of Service.

May be this is a topic that the more technically savvy listers can explain to us.

Barrack, may be this is an interesting topic for our forthcoming IGF?

To top all this Zuku charged me for installation and never completed the install as their third party has not got enough cable, and promised this five months ago, when we requested Zuku to complete the outstanding work at their Diamond Plaza office they said they believe the job is complete....

Edith,

KICTANET are unable to use technology beyond posting which means we do not have the moral right to request others to do so.

I missed a meeting at KEPSA to discuss the KIF's strategy document because the invite was not sent as a "meeting request" for which my confirmation would have automatically updated the calendar on my computer and my phone with an automated reminder.

So, before we start asking others to embrace technology let us be seen to be doing it first.

Listers,
?
Today, Governor of Nairobi County, Kidero (or is he H.E?.how do you address them?) posted on his twitter account a note inviting Kenyans to the first public participation meeting to plan for the County.
?
As most of us are at work during the day (or tarmacking) , how are we expected to meaningful participate? I dare suggest that County Governors embrace ICTs and have ?live? online coverage of the event in a way that those unable to attend can still directly contribute via whatever means possible ? radio, sms, social media, digital hangout etc etc?
?
Any thoughts on how this can be done to embrace EVERYONE based on technologies and tools available in people?s hands (not forgetting the digitally excluded).
?
Ideas?
?
Edith

I am not for the idea of closing up industries to purely insiders. The
lethargy and infighting and loss of focus can only be detrimental. For
instance the holder of the highest office of the land is the commandeer in
chief of the armed forces. I have not heard or seen him serve for the
military before yet he is expected to lead us into battle. Ofcourse he will
need able and competent bureacrats within the rank and file to advise him.

I expect the same goes for the cabinet secretaries. Being a trained doctor
does not necessarily mean you are best placed to lead a ministry. Let us
not forget that Cabinet secretaries are negotiators and implementors o
broader overarching goals.

lawyers have however managed to clam their profession shut to outsiders.

@Barrack I think you go it wrong. If my knowledge serves me well, neither
a demo nor Kagwe were ICT experts when appointed as PS. But they had the
intellectual capacity and drive to run with it. They consulted widely and
went out of their way to hear and learn. That is what is required, not
necessarily an ICT expert.

1. With regional balancing Dr. Ndemo will definately not make it as
principal Secretary even if he merits. For such a crucial ministry i

2. The nominee appears to be a governance expert as opposed to an
Information and Communications Technology expert, will he inspire the ICT

Choice, what do others think? Let us collect our views as an ICT community,
