Dear Listers,

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU)  in June launched the 2020 guidelines on Child Online Protection (COP) on how to contribute to the development of a safe and empowering online environment for children. The guidelines provide a set of concrete recommendations for children, parents and educators, industry, and policy-makers serving as a blueprint that can be adapted to national or local customs and laws.

Similarly, in March during #TakeOnTech, Grace Githaiga hosted Steven Wanjuku, Tech Engineer Tunapanda Net, Wainana Mungai, President Internet Society Kenya Chapter, and Nahashon Ndirangu, SafeHouse. They had an interesting discussion about Child online safety.

Now, that we are home more than ever, I know most of us, perhaps being fully engaged in online work or virtual meetings, we tend to forget what our kids are doing on their gadgets. This is one conversation that needs to be listened to and action is taken.

Enjoy!
