Asante sana Ndugu for sharing. This is a well written research/report on the media landscape in general in Kenya. Well done. May I make few suggestions?

1. Would be nice to map out local social media influencers in the different social sites.

2. What is the value of local online advertising? Unfortunately this is something that no research company has done very well. This would be helpful to encourage the development of local content. Experience has shown that there is a huge appetite for local content ('Papa Shirandula', 'Mother in Law' anyone?) 

3. Besides Alexa, which in my humble opinion is a bit subjective (since you needed to have installed the Alexa tool bar) Is there a other ranking tool? the research and media monitoring companies Ipsos, Nielsen etc need to look into this. Not sure also whether Alexa picks mobile Internet usage.

4. Breakdown of online media against radio, TV etc.

Another element that might be contributing to the perceived slow internet speeds are the frequent outages at KIXP due to power problems.

Apparently the exchange point has been having serious power related problems that have resulted in extended downtimes. This was brought to my attention by one of Kenya's largest carriers - apparently they were asking me if there was any way I could help out of frustration that nothing was being done about the problem.

It seems that the current structure is actually acting as a barrier which is preventing the IXP from being relocated to better infrastructure in one of the many data centers we have around the city (as was suggested by the member who raised the issue to me).
