Congrats, Bw Wangusi. Although I don't exactly know what are your TORs, my belief and hope is that you'll flex your muscles enough to make things in the communication sector to be more vibrant and reflective of the various players. On 22/08/2012, Brian Munyao Longwe <blongwe@gmail.com> wrote:

Whao! that was fast! I would have thought more time would be required to balance out the political lobbying :-). Either way, congrats to Wangusi, am sure quite a number chicken will be served for dinner in certain parts of the country :-)
But on a more serious note, the DG task is quite cut out - especially as we head into the election. Whereas it would have been simply to balance the interests of Operators/Competitors, Govt and Consumers it is now complicated by the interests of (electioneering) Politicians, Bankers (mobile money) and more recently Bloggers (social media - ref. Robert Alai?).
It is indeed a full plate ahead of the DG. All the best.

And there it goes. Wangusi is the new DG of CCK!
Congratulations to him on the appointment. We hope he can make CCK a bull-terrier to bite the SPs - when they don't deliver as promised:-)

Interesting!!
This 'campaign' here reminds me of how 'we want to see our own (professionally) making it to the DG post. As a 'mwananchi wa kawaida' my views would be more of a pedestrian, literary. Just as Grace Bomu has said, what matters most is not who, but professionalism - someone who will crack the whip against the errant radio stations, put service providers to task and above all, follow the law to the letter.
Sometimes when you look at retired (and very tired) political appointee declaring an interest in governorship, because the fellow thinks of nothing save the title, forgetting that all positions - women representative, county leader, Senator, Governor, MP and even Presidency - are all about service delivery.
About the common man interrogating the law, I think there is nothing like that, because a few civil society organizations have assumed the role of the 'unofficial opposition', in the absence of one in the Parliament. The local mwanachi has not yet understood the constitutional implementation process, because politicians have hijacked the whole process - and their silence, means they are likely to disappear into the oblivion.
My mwananchi thoughts.

Robert, It may have been prudent to call for an AGM before such drastic decisions are made. The constitution accords evrybody a right to fair process. We have the opportunity to show what really multistakeholderism means. This where we must be torlerant of every individual no matter what their idea may be. The report has to be approved by the AGM before the Board implements. This is basic governance even in rigid organizations.
