The Data Privacy and Governance Society carried out a survey of privacy and governance professionals. The survey was to help us gain insights into the current state of our profession. Some highlights from the survey:
- 59% of data privacy professionals do not hold any certification
- 23% of data privacy professionals carry out both internal and external Data Protection Officer (DPO) roles
- 50% of internal DPOs experience conflict in their role
- 39% of internal DPOs earn less than Ksh. 100,000 (USD 690) per month
- 70% of external DPOs are from the legal profession
