Does anyone know the background of the various members of the USAF board? Also, what is the mandate of the board members?

Thanks, WMB

Hi Brian,

Many thanks for this update. I cannot believe how much time it has taken to get the USAF online. The law was passed in 2009.

Seems like the Universal Service Fund has taken one more step towards becoming a tangible reality with the appointment of it's Advisory Council.

In the words of the Cabinet Secretary “I believe we’ve the best people with the right expertise for the job,”

Members are:
  1. Catherine Ngahu (chairperson)
  2. Josephine Towett
  3. James Wangiros
  4. Rodah Masaviru
  5. J Kennedy Okong’o
  6. Nixon Gecheo
  7. Wellington Godo
  8. Samuel Mutungi
  9. Michael Itote

In this particular case I would be the first one to say that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The USF is a promise that has taken several years to come to fruition, I wonder whether now finally the fund will commence operations and ensure that rural Kenya gets the access to ICTs that it needs.

Best regards,
