Subject: Financial Journalists to be barred from NSE

Business journalists may soon be barred from dealing in stocks and
securities at the stock market if their work involves writing stories
and analyses on the same.

This is among the raft of proposals contained in a new Bill that was
tabled in Parliament yesterday. The Bill proposes that financial
journalists be barred from dealing in stocks they plan to write on
grounds of a possible conflict of interest.
"Journalists should not write or broadcast about shares, securities
and other market instruments in whose performance they know they or
their families have significant financial interest," says the Bill in
part.
