Dear friends and colleagues:

As you may know, the UN Environment Programme has established a new Digital Transformation programme to accelerate and scale climate action, nature, protection and pollution prevention through the use of data and digital technologies in UNEP’s programmes and partnerships. The need for innovation and collaboration in digital technologies is key to:

•                     Build a digital ecosystem of data for the planet;

•                     Shift market incentives and consumer behaviours through digital channels;

•                     Enhance e-governance through inclusive policy development, digital literacy, innovation support and stakeholder engagement.

With this, we are extremely pleased to share the job openings for the two new senior positions within the Digital Transformation programme:

•                     Chief Digital Officer (D1) based in Nairobi who will lead this pioneering new programme and implement UNEP’s digital transformation strategy.

•                     Digital Transformation Programme Coordinator (P5) based in Nairobi who will conduct internal coordination across all divisions and regions, strategic planning, resource mobilization, impact monitoring and reporting.

These two positions will be the senior management anchor for the new Digital Transformation programme and for the Digital Accelerator Lab. They will also play key roles for UNEP within the Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) and the implementation of the Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age.

We are looking for individuals with bold visions for digital sustainability, a commitment to human-centered design, experience with exponential digital innovation, and high comfort levels with calculated risk taking and digital disruption.
