Is it that the legislation that created such bodies was so rigid that it doesn't give room for revision/amendments in parliament, and renaming positions? What this new bill (if the news story is to be believed) seeks to do will be a game changer, though I will hold my substantive comments until I have seen it. From the story it seems that we will finally have a commission fashioned to some extent like the European and American ones with real teeth. May be then we will stop hearing stories about politicians trying to influence CCK, CCK pussyfooting around key issues because they don't want to be seen offending the powers that be.
By the way, having said all that I must commend CCK for steering the sector up to now. Within the confines of the law and the current dispensation they have done a commendable job. May be it's time for the child to move on? Out of the parents home?

Another time|funds-wasting effort me feels. Why can't the govt just rename CCK to ICC via some legislation/gazette notice? What are the technicalities? NSIS was renamed to NIS, right? Same thing can be done to CCK, with the definition of the new mandate and save Kenyans so much time and resources. This way there will be no funds being wasted re-advertising/recruiting the staff. Well, I could be the only dumb**s thinking this way.
