We wish to bring to your attention that the East African Communications Organisation (EACO)
Congress and Related Meetings will take place along the sidelines of the premier EACO exhibition from 24th – 28th June 2013. The events are scheduled to take place simultaneously at the
Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), in Nairobi, Kenya. The exhibition will be held from 26th – 28th June 2013. The
theme of the exhibition is Making Broadband work for Socio-economic growth in Africa.
We take the liberty to extend an invitation to non-EACO members from the industry to participate at the meeting as observers. Industry players interested in attending
the Congress are invited to express their interest through CCK at the address:
eaco2013@cck.go.ke or
info@cck.go.ke. The agenda of the Congress will be availed by the EACO Secretariat soon on their website(www.eaco.int).

Background
EACO
was established to strengthen and promote cooperation in the development and provision of postal, telecommunications and broadcasting services in the East
African Community. It was constituted by the five East African countries with the objective to harmonise policy and regulatory frameworks in the region; promote the development of broadcasting, postal and telecommunications/ICT services and regulatory matters;
and devise ways and means to achieve fast, reliable, secure, affordable and efficient communications services within the Community.
Members of EACO comprise of National Regulatory Agencies and ICT operators in their respective jurisdictions within the East African countries. These include telecommunications, internet, postal, broadcasting,
among other ICT service providers.
The EACO Secretariat is hosted by the Republic of Rwanda, under the auspice of the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority.
The exhibition will present a new opportunity for EACO member organisations and the ICT sector as a whole in the East African region to show case the socio-economic
benefits that the sector presents to the citizens in our region. The exhibition is meant to highlight the reach and role of ICT’s as well as best practices in various aspects of life ranging from health, education, economic activities, and other developmental
opportunities.
