Per diems for a local event may be less than those for attending International seminars but may win some goodwill around the same.

Am not sure if one of the leading global Info-Security organisations www.ISACA.org with a Kenyan chapter @ www.isaca.or.ke having over 1,000 registered IS professionals was involved.
If not, what a wasted opportunity to harvest local knowledge to address local challenges.
