Safaricom made a major shift in its privacy policy when it announced that it would start concealing part of the identity details and personal information of senders in all Lipa Na M-Pesa transactions from the end of June 2022. 

Mr Meshack Masibo and Mr Victor Kapiyo in this piece, hail the shift as " a step in the right direction to safeguard the privacy and data of its users’ by design and by default, in keeping with section 41 of the Data Protection Act."
