Bwana Mutoro, I think most of the pertinent issues you've raised, have been higlighted onlist, with little or no satisfactory answers, however, my contention would be: Why did Prof. Wanjohi (the President's Private Secretary) have to write to CCK? Did he do it as a private citizen, using the President's seal? Does he have interests in the telecommunication sector which he has to protect? Looking at this an unapdated State House Kenya website: www.statehousekenya.go.ke/government/op.htm, it does not give the functions of Kenya's President Private Secretary as provided by www.royal.gov.uk/TheRoyalHousehold/RoyalHouseholddepartments/ThePrivateSecretarysOffice/ThePrivateSecretarysOffice.aspx and www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secretary_to_the_President_of_the_United_States Mburu On 12/09/2012, Edith Adera <eadera@idrc.or.ke> wrote:
At this press conference do you intend to have CCK and Bwana Ndemo/Minister present? It would be important to get a rejoinder and clarity for the proper functioning of the industry.

Dear all,
I enjoy the wealth of expertise and non-concurrance on a number of ICT issues on this blog.
Tomorrow, at 2pm, The Consumers Federation of Kenya (www.cofek.co.ke<http://www.cofek.co.ke>) will be addressing a press conference on the MTR (mobile termination rate) and related intrigues and the fact that the debate is getting out of control if not confusing. What if CCK approves lowering? What if it doesn't? What about the approach used by HE the President to communicate the decision.
I will appreciate your urgent views on the way forward. Please feel free to criticize us/our position especially if it adds value to the subject matter. We really need to have this debate more focussed. Thanks.
