DFID works in partnership with a range of different organisations to ensure effective use of our development budget and to assist us in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These include multilateral institutions (such as the World Bank, European Community and UN agencies), developing country governments, civil society organisations and the research community. See 'Who DFID works with <about:blank../aboutdfid/dfidwork/>’ for more information. Although the greater part of our development assistance funding is channelled through multilateral agencies, direct budget support and larger scale programmes, there is still substantial support provided through a variety of other funds for smaller scale initiatives. These are aimed at promoting sustainable development and eliminating poverty. They are open to different groups and the following list has been arranged to reflect this. For a breakdown of expenditure see our annual publication, ‘Statistics on International Development <about:blank../pubs/files/sid2006/contents.asp>’. Any organisations or individuals seeking funding should read the guidelines for the Fund which they feel best suits their needs and apply directly, using the instructions given. · Funding for international students wishing to study in the UK <about:blank#individuals> · Funding for not-for-profit organisations <about:blank#orgs> · Conflict and humanitarian funding <about:blank#humanitarian> · Funding for the private sector <about:blank#businesses> · Funding for educational institutions <about:blank#education> · Funding for the media <about:blank#media> · Funding for local authorities <about:blank#commonwealth> · Funding for specific countries or regions <about:blank#countries> · Closed funds <about:blank#closed> *Funding for international students wishing to study in the UK* * Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan <about:blankcsfp.asp> (CSFP) Awards for post-graduate study and occasional undergraduate study covering some Commonwealth countries. * Shared Scholarship Scheme <about:blank../funding/sharedscholarship.asp> Awards for Commonwealth postgraduate students to study in the UK. *Further information* The above schemes are aimed primarily at students from developing Commonwealth countries.
