The Rwandan government has appointed former Kenya Pipeline Company Limited Managing Director Shem Ochuodho to head the country's information and communication authority.
Ochuodho is the new chief executive officer of the Rwanda Information Technology Authority (RITA) for a period of two years.
Ochuodho, a former chairman of the Computer Society of Kenya, will now
national body that is designed to develop Rwanda's information and communications facilities.
He holds a Philosopher's Degree (PhD) in Engineering (software) from the University of York, England and a Masters in Electronic Engineering from
University of Nairobi.
RITA runs as an independent body with linkages to IT divisions in government ministries as well as other ICT-related organisations in public and
head the the private
sectors.
The authority seeks to modernise Rwanda's economy using information and communication technology as an engine for accelerated growth.
It has the responsibility of developing national ICT standards and guidelines.
