Hello All,
The Innovation and International Development program at Tel Aviv University, called
IsraelDev Network
is a grassroots movement that seeks to transform Israel into an epicentre of technological and social innovation for the developing world. They are currently organising the
Dev4Dev
Hackathon, an 2-day event aimed at developing applications for the developing world. This event will take place in November and will bring together programmers, international development and business professionals from across the industry to build
prototype solutions that address the health, agriculture, water and sanitation, transportation and education challenges predominant in the developing world. The goal is to increase exposure to the role that the Israeli tech community can play in providing
innovative and non-traditional solutions in these markets.
Is anyone interested in participating?
They are looking for help in identifying mobile or web applications that the developers could work on during the Hakathon to solve social challenges in the world. They would welcome participants to join (at their own cost, IsraelDev doesn’t have budget for
travel) or virtually on Sykpe etc.
Call for Technological Needs-Statements
On the 7-8 November 2013 we will be hosting the
Dev4Dev Hackathon in Tel Aviv, Israel, an event that will focus on
Developing Apps for the Developing World.
The aim of Dev4Dev is to connect Israel’s leading entrepreneurial and technological community with the needs of the developing world. We hope to harness the talent of the next generation of programmers and developers
for addressing the most pressing needs of the developing world by raising awareness and forming partnerships with local stakeholders in these countries.
It is in this vein that we are reaching out to your organisation, with a request for technological needs-statements that you believe could be addressed by applications developed at the Hackathon.
We invite your organisation to e-mail hackathon@israeldev.org with identified technological needs. Each
need-statements will be evaluated and accepted on a rolling-basis so please submit statements as early as possible. Should your request be approved by our advisory team we would be happy to work with you to refine the proposal in the run up to the Hackathon.
Format for Needs-Statements:
· The Need: What problem are you trying to solve?
· Potential technological solution
· Any technical, sociological or contextual considerations
· About your organisation/the body who would implement the solution
The application need not be longer than 1-page and can be e-mailed or submitted
online. Feel free to take a look at the RHOK Website for
examples of the type of challenges we are looking to work on.
