Thank you, Gentlemen, However, my question still remains, does or should KI-IGF have a stipulated mandate/time...where its tasks can be evaluated? has it been instrumental in achieving something to/for the stipulated Multi-stakeholders mentioned? can K-IGF be part of Kenya's vision 2030? ???? your thoughts are welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for raising this interesting perspective Judy. In my humble opinion there is a local perspective to Internet Governance Issues and a Global Perspective to the same. The Local initiative is not tied to the global one and i suppose this might give us some leeway to review whether we need to continue with it or not. In my opinion, i do feel with or without the global initiative we have to carry on with our local version of the Internet Governance Forum. I might not have an authoritative opinion in so far as Internet usage statistics are concerned but as far as i know we still have less than ten million Internet users which leads me to ask the question why? to attempt to answer myself i will attempt to identify the various constituencies on the Internet Children Youth Small and Medium Enterprises Banks Academia Technical Community Governmnet all this are sources of income for the governmnet and if we are to grow our GDP it is imperative that we get all this stakeholders together and identify their priorities in so far as Internet Usage is Concerned.
Why should education be expensive with e-learning?, why should healthcare be costly with e-health, why should banking be costly with e-banking?
It think the main issue here is the classified into two aspects: the willing buyer versus the willing seller (as-is) and the imposed buyer. Logically, the reason as to why we find anything e-something is costly than physical appearance, is because the society has not fully appreciated and acknowledged the need for adapting to change. In essence, mass education can work well in changing the mindset.
, i hope this makes a case for the vailidity of the Kenya IGF forum, differing perspectives are invited though :-)

Dear Barrack,All,
thank you for this introduction and I look forward to these deliberations, however my question is
"how long is the mandate for the Kenya IGF?"
this year's focus on the global event is reviewing their 5year mandate and look at its possible extension and why.....having borrowed the 'not a decision making ,model' from the global event, are we looking at a possible time lapse as well?
Kind Regards,

Dear Listers,
Another year has gone by and it is time to review the deliberations that were made during last years discussions which was moderated by Walu and Mwende Njiraini. While reflecting on this it is important to note that the IGF process is not a decision making mechanism but a platform for multistakeholder dialogue, the idea is to bring together organisations and persons involved in Internet public policy formulation. It is this organisations and persons that make the decisions or implement the changes that are required in the public space. This notwithsatnding, the Kenya IGF has made immense contribution to the East African IGF which is by far one of the best regional initiatives globally and provides a benchmark for other Regional initiatives that are coming up in Africa and the Global IGF process. Last years report is attached to this thread and i would like to invite listers to skim through it an identify issues that might need to be revisited and or reviewed. In addition you may propose areas that need to be taken into consideration as we prepare for the face to face discussions at the end of this Month. Please note that discussions around this theme will take one day however you may continue with the thread even after we have moved to the next theme which will look at Infrastructure issues.
