Yesterday, Microsoft has unveiled Majorana 1, the world's first quantum chip utilizing a novel Topological Core architecture based on a breakthrough material called a topoconductor. This topoconductor enables the creation and control of Majorana particles, leading to more stable and scalable qubits, the fundamental building blocks of quantum computers.
Unlike current approaches, Majorana 1's architecture offers a clear path towards a million-qubit chip, a crucial threshold for solving complex industrial and societal problems previously intractable for classical computers.
