Colleagues ,

Thank for your observation, the best question to ask is what can i do to change the prevailing circumstance as opposed to who is doing what, lets do what we can with the tools that are in our hands, mailing lists such as this one exist so that  we can make our voices heard but we are all responsible for taking initiative, i think the issues beforend have been discussed over the last couple of years and it is time to act, the question is who is ready? we all come from counties and we know the needs therein, lets use the power of the Internet to harness resources that will make this a reality.

Best Regards

Wangari et all,
Those are very good points raised and a good question indeed who is representing ISOC-KE on this big occasion and what did members contribute to make it be an ISOC-KE stand. Innovation you said and ISOC-KE should be taking this seriously to the next level internet for all is our motto and implementation for all should perfect it through ICT board where ISOC-KE should be represented logically. Let our young ISOC-KE move with speed through the office to address these issues with sobriety and focus to break barries for development in the ICT world.

Happy Sunday!

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the Summit (definitely implemented over a period of time).

Who is going from ISOC? Do represent (ask for Whitesands Madafu!) with the other 400delegates and keep us posted actively.

ISOC initiatives may borrow from the CEO's views. Its time to get down to what ICT can do i.e ICTs as an enabler  even as more innovation are created i.e ICT as a sector.

I think of the ICTs as enablers as - nuclear energy discovered and stored yet a country has massive power shortages or a bumper maize harvest kept in the national silos yet citizens are starving." Ujinga " to our forefathers!

There is so much hype and great stuff said to be developed however we still have high poverty levels, massive inefficiencies, lack of access to and expensive services and products, disease, hunger, lack of employment....

At the end of the Summit, I expect coverage on How can ICTs be seen to reverse this on a large scale across all key public sectors? - - What are the impediments - human, capital or technical. " A ship is safe at the habor, but that is not what it was made for!" i.e solving something or adding value.
- Specific interlink actions by key sectors e.g Other Ministries to view ICT as an enable versus just a stand alone Ministry

“This Summit is not about techie issues, neither is it an academic exercise, it is very simply about how ICT can be deployed to make service delivery more efficient to the every Kenyan,” said Paul Kukubo, chief executive of Kenya ICT Board.
“It is about national strategies and policies and how they can contribute to enhanced service delivery to the county citizen. It is about service, using ICT as an enabler.”
With eight out of every ten Kenyans having access to mobile telephony, the device has gone beyond the traditional call and text functions.
Mobile phones can now be used to provide financial services such as money transfer, payment of utility bills and shopping.
Kenyan techies have developed multiple applications in education, agriculture and health; and the government now plans to ride on country’s high mobile penetration to provide services..."

Have a pleasant day.

Regards/Wangari

Stakeholders in the ICT industry converge in Mombasa next week to take stock of Kenya’s developments in the technology scene and develop a strategy to deepen digitisation of government operations.
