Listers, I hope the success is 'Institutionalised' and is not a sporadic wave as has been the case before :-), this is the only way it can be replicated, otherwise thumbs up to the IIEC and all who made it possible for the referendum to succeed. I am joining in to say kudos too; I am totally amazed that all I needed to do (from Cape Town) was to access the Nation Media and website and view live results being relayed from the polling stations.
Congratulations to all those that made this 'miracle' possible. One more reason that makes me very proud of Kenya and ICT.

Indeed, the government shared services project(s) should learn from this!

folks,
i dont know about you but am totally blown away by the affordability and simplicity of the electronic results system currently in use at Bomas. I mean, think about it, a mobile phone of less than 30USD and an SMS message of less than 1USD and some piece software and you get results securely checked into a central server, tallied and and instantly relayed to the public.
This to me is eGovernance without the usual big budgets and subsequent failure that often accompanies ICT projects...more importantly I want to believe, this is the beginning of how elections will be conducted in future.
