I take this opportunity to respond to your concerns .

At time a prophet is known in their vicinity. i happened to work as a Project assistant of Dr Etta in the Kenya ICT policy project, and with you too , set up Kiplist but this was all based on TOR for the project under IDRC and i dont beleive that this tricles down to other operation based on countrys ways of operations. The nominations are all in the domain of the country concerned. Support received from active participants who were employess of a donor doesnt qualify them to be part and parcel of what they inciated..Assuming we were all non Kenyan? Could u have raised then concens? and more so country based developed has to be effected by the countrymen and women whom takes the responsibility and accountability of the same......not to say others should not be involved any way !!!

In simple terms, i guess the nomination is in order .

The question still remains, how was this done???? When I brought up the question about Dr. Florence Etta, it was on the basis of her experience and being the key founder of this noble organisation. Also that she was involved in the marketing of this organisation and one or more of the donors to KICTANET have been achieved through her connections and skills in bring them on board.  All in all my question hasn't been answered todate.

thanks and appreciate the input of comments people have made and agree with them but we still need answers.

I think in future it may prudent to direct questions to the source on
issues such as Board Appointment.  In the past, it was purely the
prerogative of the President and the Minister to appoint even the MD.

This has since changed and we want it to change even further to enable
stakeholders to nominate potential candidates.  If you carefully
scrutinize the ICT Board and Management appointment, you will see our
rationale.  The CEO went through a vetting process by Delloite.  The
Minister only confirmed the outcome.  We needed both the CEO and the
Chairperson to be both marketers and have some knowledge of ICT to market
our country as an outsource destination.

The Board appointments were made in such a way to accomodate most of the
stakeholders and also takes into account on such issues as Gender,
diversity (age, race, religion, public/private etc).  With all these
variables, it is not difficult to annoy a few in the process.  What needs
to be done is to have a legal requirement as we have done with the Film
Commission that the stakeholders nominate.  But even in this case some
stakeholders are not permanent entities or are not recognized by all.

In my view Kicktanet is a wonderful organization but it has remained a
virtual club.  We need to move its agenda a notch higher to create
interface between policy making and the citizenry.  I have given my views
on this to the consultant but we should one day have an holds barred
seminar to reform this noble organization.
