Hi,

This is assuming that the messages will be send through the local telcos, currently my bank and even KPLC send broadcast SMSs using foreign carriers so how does the directive apply in such as case?

This is interesting, coming after we discussed intermediary liability at Kenya IGF. 

Does anyone have a link to the actual draft guidelines? 

While we need some accountability, 48 hours may be too long a period to wait for a go ahead in the political world. 

But more fundamentally, will content providers police SMS under these guidelines?

Political parties will be required to submit political text messages for approval by mobile phone operators 48 hours before they can be sent out, according to new proposed rules. Read on.
