Greetings Listers,
“In 2027, the majority of the voters will be millennium voters, young adults born in the digital age, commonly known as digital natives. They will want to vote from the comfort of their phones, laptops or whatever device would be convenient.”
I share the sentiments above in solidarity with Prof. John. He made outstanding tech observations on the upcoming 2027 elections which will not only “make the voting process ‘more attractive’, less cumbersome thereby ‘minimizing apathy’ among the youth but could also prove to be the long awaited solution for an estimated 3M diaspora voters who miss out on exercising their democratic right of voting due to logistical and financial constraints.
Finally, We need a tech-oriented solution based government, especially in the appointment of top officials in related government agencies and ministries, as is a critical step in the digitalization process and consequent decision-making.
Dear Listers,Elections are not an event but a process. This is a series of blogs about the 2022 Kenya Election as we look into the future. Mr John Walubengo, a Trustee at KICTANet and Lecturer takes a look at some of the challenges the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission faced in 2022 andand how they could be addressed. https://t.co/ywTpLaLk5YWe always encourage you to share your thoughts and feedback as it is the essence of who we are as Listers.Have a good start to the week!--Kind Regards,David Indeje
