While it would definitely be great to see them use .co.ke domains it is good to take into account the 'netsavyness' of their advisors and cost decisions made by the vendors who provide the websites, strategy etc. At the end of the day, none of these candidates are digital natives and probably one tld is to them as good as another.
Part of Kenic's outreach program should be to provide incentives for these campaigns to use .co.ke rather than .com

You don't have to buy many domain names; cyber squatting (also known as domain squatting ) is punishable by law - through ICANN - and hence illegal. The only challenge is that you will have to prove your case in all the involved instances.Best Regards,

Good examples are gogle.com and facbook.com. For large corporates, it becomes costly, since you have to buy domains in as many countries as you can. ie apple.com, apple.co.ke and apple.co.ug

Quite pathetic that aspiring presidential candidates can opts for .com
domain rather than a .ke. If as a president you cannot buy Kenya and
promote the local brand, who will?
We need to emulate the pride of Deutsches, who have the second biggest
TLD in the world .de, rivalled only by .com. Surprisingly one of these
presidential candidates spent a considerable amount of time in
Deutscheland yet he has not borrowed those ideals and replicated them
in Kenya.
teamuhuru.co.ke is the only candidate who scores 100% on this metric.
Yes, "Brand Kenya" is now a campaign issue.
