"452 Too many recipients received this hour from your IP"

Yesterday I received the error message above when I sent an email to someone at a particular organisation which was copied to 2 other members of the same organisation.

In addition to the message above the transcript of the bounce message also included the following justification

"You probably have a spambot on your network"

Is this a case of an over zealous sysadmin or are we getting paranoid?
