Happy to have you "back" and your return timing is perfect as this past week as Listers we have been having discussions on shaping Kenya's cybersecurity ecosystems in which you played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Computer Misuse & Cybercrimes Act (CMCA). We have been reflecting on the CMCA and discussing next steps to better enhance it to ensure it is up to par with the rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape that our Republic faces.
We looked at 6 main areas i.e.:
1. A review of the CMCA’s effectiveness in preventing and prosecuting cybercrimes.
2. The CMCA’s impact on privacy, freedom of expression and access to information.
3. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the legal actions pursued under the CMCA.
4. An assessment of the effectiveness of the safeguards under the CMCA.
5. An appraisal of the impact of the CMCA on business and individuals.
6. An analysis of the effectiveness of the CMCA to embrace emerging technologies and the cyberthreats they pose therein.
I would love your insights on these areas and or any other area you deem we should consider whilst reviewing the CMCA.
