Walu,
You are very right. CA is already making the arrangements and has invited the industry. We will have the ceremony at the Laico Regency. We are certainly open to welcome TESPOK and the industry to collaborate with us in celebrating this day that we have always marked in Kenya over the years. As indicated in previous mails on the list, the theme for 2016 WTISD is “ICT entrepreneurship for social impact”.
The Communications Authority of Kenya in line with the theme, will host the ICT Week forum from 17th to 20th May 2016 with the aim of sensitizing the licensees on the activities of the Authority. It also provides an avenue for interaction and opportunities to build solid relationships.
Invitations have been sent to respective organisations but in the event that you have not received one, please feel free to join the rest of the industry at the celebrations of the WTISD and the opening of CA’s annual ICT week forum on 17th May, 2016 from 9:00am at the Laico Hotel, Nairobi, and thereafter.
We shall be reaching out to TESPOK to seek avenues of collaboration and explore the provision of a platform for the innovators community to speak on the theme. Suffice to say, we are in conversation with them in preparation of the supplement planned to appear in the dailies on that day.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Rachel

@Fiona,
This is a good initiative. However, was just wondering how or if you are working with the regulator, CA on this given that you will probably be addressing the same constituency of Kenyan ICT entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD-2016) is a global event <http://www.itu.int/en/wtisd/2016/Pages/default.aspx>, celebrated annually to mark the founding of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1969 and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865.
Traditionally CA has been taking the lead on this annual event and just wanted to know if TESPOK efforts can be aligned to maximize the national benefit.

Dear Industry Players
The World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD-2016) comes up on the 17th May 2016. This year it will focus on the theme: “ICT entrepreneurship for social impact”.
ICT entrepreneurs and start-ups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have a particularly relevant role in ensuring economic growth in a sustainable and inclusive manner. They are involved in the development of innovative ICT-enabled solutions with a unique potential to make a long-lasting impact in global, regional and national economies and as an important source of new jobs, especially for youth, in the current knowledge economy. In the Kenya ICT Masterplan, ICT entrepreneurs have the opportunity to be the key organisation that will facilitate economic growth through business opportunities available under the pillars of ICT as a driver of industry and developing ICT businesses.
In regard to the above the Technology Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK) would like to invite ICT entrepreneurs to a round table discussion on the current theme at the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi from 8:00am to 10:00am 17th may 2016. Please confirm your participation with details of your name and company/organisation details via email to damaris@tespok.co.ke <javascript:_e(%7B%7D,'cvml','damaris@tespok.co.ke');> by Monday 16th May 2016 at 12:00 noon EAT. There are limited slots and we shall acknowledge participation on a first come basis.
Your Sincerely
