It's not possible to sell http://www.co.ke because it is already owned by xTom Hong Kong Limited since 2011. When the original techies in the .ke namespace were generating the RNL like nic.co.ke, they forgot to also reserve www and it was snapped by a domainer. Go ahead and visit http://www.co.ke, and see it resolve. That ship sailed long time ago. On 28/12/2017, Odhiambo Washington via kictanet <kictanet@lists.kictanet.or.ke> wrote:

KeNIC is ours. I’m just trying to think out of the box so that some of these resources that could be in the community’s control can be used to further our ICT Agenda beyond government. We need to think out of the box and monetize resources available.

That can be part of the agreement. This domain is too valuable to just ‘park’ it. I see no reason why this can’t done.

I am with @Phares on this. I don't think co.ke can be sold. If I bought it, I could then mess up all the .co.ke domains by just creating them as a subdomain of my co.ke domain - unless it is clearly stated that whoever buys co.ke is PROHIBITED from creating any subdomains on this domain.

Not really. (.co.ke) is what is currently in use. KeNIC introduced a second level system which is (.ke) and the rules are clear. You can own any domain with one or more letters before the (.ke).
So where I stand (or sit) :-) the co.ke domain is fair game.. I think KeNIC just needs to explain to the community why they are hoarding this billion dollar domain. :-)
