Hi Team,

I wanted to share some important information regarding the payer and hospital management systems Kenyan government is considering. Oracle, with its acquisition of Cerner, has established itself as a clear leader in this field. Their proven track record and extensive experience make them a reliable choice.

On the other hand, Adani's capabilities in this space are largely unknown. While they may be a reputable company in other sectors, their lack of experience in healthcare technology raises significant concerns. It's essential to consider the risks associated with implementing an unproven system, especially in a critical area like healthcare.

Given that Oracle is a Kenyan company, partnering with them should aligns with Kenya's commitment to supporting local businesses and ensuring a smooth integration process.

If anyone is listening here let somebody ask and carefully evaluate  options out there and make an informed decision based on the proven track record and expertise of Oracle.

Best regards,

TN

good morning,
government has legitimate interest and legal authority on all citizen data. they are also arguing that it is part of a data quality process (another expectation of data protection)

they just need to prove that they conducted  a Data Privacy  Impact Assessment  (based on the ruling of huduma number)

Patient data privacy is a paramount issue in healthcare. It involves protecting sensitive personal information such as medical history, diagnoses, treatment plans, and insurance details. Breaches of this privacy can have severe consequences for both individuals and healthcare providers.

The Ministry of Health holds that the ongoing enrolment of Kenyans into the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) without their consent is legal.

As SHIF’s rolling out kicked off on Tuesday, October 1, members of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) – the public health insurance scheme SHIF replaced – have been getting SMS messages that they have been automatically registered for the controversial new plan.

In a statement on Thursday, Health Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai said: “The Ministry has received inquiries regarding the transition of existing NHIF members to SHA. We wish to clarify that the laws as per legal notice 147 of 2024 provided for the transition of all registered and verifiable NHIF members into SHA.”
