Subject: Invitation : Ground breaking of the First Kenya Software Factory in Mulot, Bomet County
Dear ,
The Ministry of ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs launched the Kenya National Digital Masterplan (2022-2032) in April 2022 at the 11th Connected Summit. The Masterplan is meant to guide the government as well as investors while planning, designing, and deploying ICT initiatives for the country over the next 10 years. The master plan highlighted 19 flagship initiatives that the country considers as critical in accelerating the digital transformation of the nation.Among the flagship programmes is the establishment of two major software industries which will employ over 100,000 software engineers to develop Software/Systems for the region as well as for the global market. This is expected to create employment opportunities for our youth and spur the country's economic growth. To kick off this initiative, the government through the Ministry of ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs together with the County Government of Bomet has identified land and site for the establishment of the Software Factory.
As you may be aware Bomet County, Mulot area, is known to host talented ICT experts who have been using their skills in the wrong way i.e to ‘hack’ ICT platforms in the country and region. The government has planned to tap these talents through establishment of the Software factory to provide the necessary environment for their innovation and creativity. The government plan is to establish the factory with private sector investors under public-private partnership arrangement.
The Ministry through ICT Authority has planned for the groundbreaking and launch of the factory on Friday, 29th July 2022 at Mulot, Bomet County. The event will be officiated by Hon. Joe Mucheru, CS Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs together with the County Government of Bomet working together with 14 counties under the Lake Basin Economic Forum. It is expected that government agencies and ICT investors will participate through exhibitions, publicity, and awards.
In our continuous effort to collaborate with all key sector partners, the Authority is, therefore, inviting your institution, for full participation and support for the event. The Authority will provide an exhibition space, where you can showcase your products and services.
For confirmation of your space, attendance and participation contact Ms. Hellen Kirui, via email hkirui@ict.go.ke, Telephone: 0717355002, and Felista Warui; Telephone: 0721573332 by Friday 23rd July 2022 COB.
I look forward to your favorable response and collaboration on the implementation of the Kenya Digital Master Plan.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Kipronoh RonohAg. Chief Executive Officer
