Got to hear the last 10-15 minutes of the MoE presentation in the afternoon. Clearly this project is going to impact Kenyan society even if the laptop part fails by whatever key performance indicators are set by various parties. There are serious investigations/plans to get schools currently too far off the electricity grid with solar power. Mr. Sang gave some real costs of a solar power installation at a school in Garissa. They are even asking where charging cabinets can be located, if not at schools. They need our ideas/solutions :) On Fri, Jul 5, 2013 at 8:27 AM, robert yawe <robertyawe@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:
Hi,
As many of you are aware yesterday KICTANET held a forum at Strathmore to come up with a position paper on the Class 1 Laptop project that will be rolling out in January 2014.
We had a number of very enlightening position papers but most important was a presentation by the Ministry of Education on the project.
Your core team will be compiling the final report which will be presented on behalf of KICTANET to the relevant government and parliamentary groups on the 19th of July 2013.
