Dear James/Grace

Allow me to clarify that it is true that KeNIC does not deal directly with Registrants (end users) but does so through our accredited registrars which Google is not a part of.

Following the recent events, KeNIC will also be preparing a comprehensive statement that will shed more light to the issues that you have requested clarification on in the course of this week.

But I thought KENIC does not register domains/collect money directly from domain name owners...it is registrars who do so...so maybe Google is a registrar?

You answered it better than I would have.

Additionally, perhaps as I should remind Steve that it is to Kenic
that domain registration fees are paid and if companies are being
persuaded to upgrade to their own domain names from the .kbo.ke, it is
only right to query who stands to benefit from such a money.

In this case, agency seems implied. So, can Kenic tell us if they have
an Agency contract with these people? Otherwise, they are charging
registration fees as who yet Kenic is in charge of the country's Top
Level Domain registry?
