ListersApologies for cross posting.Interesting development on Net Neutrality issues. Please see email thread below and kindly visit the site for more on Net Neutrality. There is even a Swahili version which is an achievement thanks to Kictanet.Net Neutrality may not be a 'sexy' subject for some but I think it's important for all of us to understand it and pay attention to its development and preservation. Think about it this way:-If Net Neutrality is threatened one day you may wake up and realize that the freedoms you took for granted - like reading this rambling email from me :) - is threatened because some Telco somewhere decided it doesn't like the contents...or Kictanet didnt pay 'gatekeeping' fees.Far fetched? Subject: [global-nn] ThisIsNetNeutrality Relaunch and Press Release
Reply-To: <deji@accessnow.org>Hi to All,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to introduce myself--I’m the new
Senior Advocacy Manager at Access and I look forward to working with you on
the Global Net Neutrality Coalition.
You have all seen the original version of the great ThisisNetNeutrality.org
site. The redesign is finished and will more clearly spotlight members of the
coalition and invite new members to join. It’s a responsive site that should
work well on computers and mobile devices. You can visit it here:
https://thisisnetneutrality.org/beta
We would like to issue a press release on Tuesday next week about this
exciting news. I see a couple of major points that are worth celebrating: the
global diversity of the coalition and the fact that civil society groups have
agreed on a universal definition of net neutrality. We can also explain that
thisisnetneutrality.org will soon be the leading resource on net neutrality
laws and policies around the globe.
It would be great to have as many statements as possible for the press
release. If you want to be included, please send me a short 2-3 line statement
along by Monday, November 24.
Here are some sample points for quotes:
-- Thisisnetneutrality.org highlights the importance of net neutrality to
users around the world.
-- This issue is not confined to one country or region, and affects people in
the developed and developing world alike.
-- Net neutrality is essential in countries where internet infrastructure is
still being built.
-- Now we have a resource for the world to discover and for policy makers to
know that net neutrality matters so that they can make informed decisions
about the future of the internet.
Let’s make sure our coalition gets the attention it deserves in every region
and country where it is represented. So please reach out to individual
journalists and publications where you have contacts if you can.
I want to do whatever I can to help move this important effort forward, so
kindly let me know if you have any questions. And once again--it’s a pleasure
to meet.
Best,
--
