Michuki, Although this was funded through e-gov, it is actually NOFBI extensions covering the 13 Counties that were not covered in the phase 1 of NOFBI. It will also cover loops to create stability from frequent cuts. Its main objective is to provide Broadband to all counties before the County Governments are in place. IFMIS must be operational in every County otherwise most Governors will end up in Jail. Eventually we shall need Fibre to most cell sites if we have to get a robust LTE network. Regards Ndemo.
Hi Muraya, et al,
I read this article and was left with a couple of questions some of which i believe those in the know (and on this list) can help clarify.
1. I was under the impression that the NOFBI project was established to interconnect Government across the country with the extra capacity being leased to operators.
2. If 1 above is true, is this new project a duplication of resources.
3. If 1 above is false, have we maximized the NOFBI infrastructure to warrant such a huge investment. In other words, what is different about this project that could not be accomplished under NOFBI
4. What is the status of NOFBI ?
While i appreciate development, am concerned about investing additional resources acquired from loans (that i help service with my taxes) to build what i perceive to be duplicated infrastructure.
Help me understand if am are missing the point.
Regards,
Michuki
