Hi Listers,

While they are at it perhaps they should also look into SIM card registration and the rise in SIM Card fraud. For example as reported in the Business Daily https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Doctor-sues-Safaricom-over-SIM-card-fraud/539546-5588592-h6xh6y/index.html a Doctor is suing Safaricom after fruadsters registered his sim card and used it to convince someone that the doctor was selling his land. This turned out to be false the doctor ended up having to pay 300,000 shillings to the person after it became clear the deal was fraudulent.

This should be a particular area of concern given how most of our digital  presence appears to be heavily dependent on our phone numbers mostly Safaricom.

Kind Regards

GG and all

I think someone in Safaricom needs to simply update these terms and conditions. Looking at the trend of Mpesa growth soon voice will be a thing of the past then what? They will lose costumers because someone is not topping up the account?

I have a corporate line that is only used for internet...Does that mean one morning I'll wake up and I have no access?

I'm sure Steve is reading this and will look into it fairly quickly.

I have followed the thread and this sort of caught my attention "...kindly note that a line is only activated via airtime top ups only". This is in response to someone who wanted to know why their line should be deactivated when they use it for mpesa and mshwari.

Transacting on both mpesa and mshwari is not exactly free. It is the same with bundles. They are not free but according to responses from safaricom on that tweet, these do not seem to count. Only airtime is considered necessary towards holding a sim card. @safaricom, mpoo? Semeni kitu!

Dear Listers,

Cc Safaricom members,

This is a complaint "Now  @SafaricomPLC repossessed & sold my Kenyan line  without informing me . The new owner , a lady , now has ALL my WhatsApp  data &  is even engaging my contacts + the  private groups I am in . Asked her why she is doing ths & she immediately blocked me. 😫"

However, the telco says it can repossess your number without notifying you.
