Commendable progress has been made in this area. As far is know traffic at KIXP has grown significantly and there are many more IXPs coming  up in Africa under the Africa Union and Internet Society supported AXIS Project. @Michuki Mwangi can speak more authoritatively on what is happening on the Regional front.
