Some highlights: Only 5 out of 27 African countries surveyed have “affordable” internet (defined as 1GB of mobile prepaid data for 2% or less of average monthly income). Kenya is NOT among the top 5; Ghana, Nigeria and ECOWAS have endorsed this redefined Internet Affordability target (expected to incorporate in their policies). The 5 countries are Mauritius, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Sudan. The gender gap in Internet use is real. Refer to http://webfoundation.org/about/research/womens-rights-online-2015/ <http://webfoundation.org/about/research/womens-rights-online-2015/>, where, e.g., where Nairobi had one of the widest gender gaps in Internet use of the 10 cities assessed.
